A PUPIL from a primary school in Dalmuir has overcome health challenges to achieve cross-country success.
Mya Mackie, 12, competed at the recent Active Schools West Dunbartonshire event held at Balloch Park
She and two other primary seven classmates, Sofia O'Donnell and Freya Bannatyne, were representing Clydemuir Primary School at the event.
The three girls finished third in the competition, receiving bronze medals for their efforts.
And Mya's grandmother, Lorraine McGhee, opened up on the success
"A total of 28 schools from across West Dunbartonshire competed in the competition," she said.
"Mrs McBeth was involved in helping train the girls for the competition.

"Mya goes to a running club at St Peter’s the Apostle and is really into her physical fitness."
The Clydemuir Primary pupil was diagnosed with diabetes 18 months ago.
But she has not let this hold her back.
And Lorraine explained how proud she was of her granddaughter.
"Mya is a great runner and it is something she really enjoys," she continued.
"I am extremely proud of her. The fact she has been able to overcome her health issues is a testament to her determination.
"I think running is something she will continue to do in the future."
