COMMUNITY groups from across Clydebank have received thousands of pounds in grants from a place-based initiative.
The new community grants scheme was launched in December last year and encouraged not-for-profit groups to come forward to secure capital funding for their project.
The funding was split into two funding pots to support a range of smaller bids up to £5,000 and some larger bids in excess of £50,000.
In November 2023 the council's Infrastructure, Regeneration & Economic Development Committee agreed to use £471,000 to provide a community grants scheme with over £212,000 of funding being awarded to groups in Clydebank.
Commenting on the funding Clydebank councillor Danny Lennie said: “I am absolutely delighted that so many groups in Clydebank were successful with their applications and can use the much-needed funding to improve the various services they provide for local residents.
“This has been a huge success for Clydebank groups but also for the council’s community team and others who carried out all the organisation and assessment.
“It’s great to see over £212,000 of grant funding going to local charities, sports and community groups for our area.”
