A MAN has pleaded guilty to two violent incidents with a knife in Clydebank and Glasgow.

Michael Dale, of Swallow Road, Clydebank, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on February 14 and admitted to the attacks dating to 2022.

The 46-year-old admitted that on October 1 of that year, at Poundland in Clyde Shopping Centre, he assaulted a worker by presenting a knife at him, demanding he open the till and robbing him of £122.30.

And the same day, in Oban Drive, Glasgow, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly staring at a woman while in possession of a knife.

He was on bail at the time.

Despite two charges of threatening behaviour with a knife, the Crown accepted Dale was not guilty of possession of a knife that day at Poundland and Clyde Shopping Centre, at Tesco Express in Queen Margaret Drive and in Oban Drive, both Glasgow.

They also accepted he was not guilty of presenting a knife to a worker in that Tesco Express and demanding she open the till and demanding money.

They further accepted that he was not guilty of a charge that while in a police vehicle between Oban Drive and Clydebank police office, he repeatedly shouted, swore and uttered threats of violence to officers.

Dale's defence KC told the court that at the time of the offences, he was "extremely chaotic" due to drug abuse. He has since sought treatment and now has employment.

"Hopefully he is in a different place," said the KC.

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry deferred sentence for reports to be prepared until March 13. He is on bail.
