Creative Clydebank pupils have been praised by the area’s MSP after they came out on top in a Christmas card competition.
Primary six youngster Emily Rankin of Our Holy Redeemer was given first place in the contest run by SNP MSP Marie McNair.
Ms McNair visited the East Barns Street school to present certificates and gift vouchers to Emily, whose design featured on the front page of the politician’s annual Christmas card, with the card being sent to local schools and other government ministers.
In second place was Alexa Boyd of Whitecrook Primary, with third place shared between two pupils at Edinbarnet, Brody White and Lorenzo Ercoli.
And Ms McNair admits she was stunned by the high-quality level of the submissions this year.
She said: “I was delighted to hold my annual Christmas Card competition again this year. We received so many fantastic entries from across the constituency, which made it really hard to choose a winner.
“It’s always fantastic to see the creativity of our young people, and this year we received so many unique cards.
“Well done, Emily, Alexa, Brody and Lorenzo and to everyone else who took part. And a special thanks to Our Holy Redeemer’s Primary School for hosting us.”
The contest was open to all primary five and six pupils from across the Clydebank, Milngavie and Bearsden North constituency.
