A collapsed manhole has shut a busy road into Clydebank.
Glasgow Road in Hardgate was suddenly closed in both directions on Wednesday morning as Scottish Water attempted to repair the road damage found just outside Arden Cottage close to the entrance to Clydebank Golf Club.
Early on Wednesday, West Dunbartonshire Council reported the loose manhole cover and, due to the location of the cover in the carriageway, a full road closure was required to carry out the repair work safely.
And Scottish Water says they aim to reopen the road tonight at 7 pm.
A spokesperson said: “A road closure was required for us to carry out the essential repair work safely.
"We would like to thank road users for their patience and understanding and ask that they follow the diversion signs.”
