BANKIES turned out in their numbers over the weekend as a local Christmas party got underway.
The festive event was held at Golden Friendships’ (GF) halls in Nairn Place on Saturday night.
launching the "world’s-first” wheelchair entertainment venue in April.
It was the charity’s first Red Ramp Christmas party afterJim McLaren, founder of GF, told the Post that attendees had a “first-class” night.
He said: “It was absolutely brilliant. We were joined by a lot of local groups including Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels, Centre81, the Faifley Guild, a Ukranian group, and all of our volunteers and staff.
“All of us coming together made for a fantastic night. We also had Des and Louise Macfarlane, who are husband and wife, entertaining the crowds, they were superb.
“We had nine wheelchair users come on the night. Everyone said the food and entertainment was first class, a fantastic night as per usual.”
Looking toward the new year, Jim revealed it is full steam ahead for the group.
He is hoping to expand the charity’s Red Ramp events.
He added: “We’ve started a new member of staff, an operations manager, and that will give me more time to get out and about next year.
“Hopefully we will get to go to the wheelchair rugby, netball, and basketball and see if we can introduce the training to the red ramp events.
“It will free up time for me to try and grow it. I’ve got the 2024 program all sorted for Red Ramps, all our entertainment, I’ve been working on it for the last month.
“Ahead of the new year, we’d like to wish everybody who has participated in or helped run our events a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
“We’re very, very grateful.”
