PLANS to close a major slip road at the Erskine Bridge have been postponed.

Motorists planning on using the northbound section of the bridge when looking to join the A82 towards Dumbarton were staring at delays this weekend due to planned bridge expansion joint replacement work.

However, Amey, the motorway engineering firm that maintains the road on behalf of Transport Scotland, say they are delaying the works scheduled to cause a full weekend closure from 6am on Friday, November 17 due to the weather.

In a post to it social media channels, Amey wrote: "Bridge expansion joint replacements on the A898 Erskine Bridge NB slip, scheduled to take place over the weekend of 17/11/23, have been postponed due to forecast adverse weather."

The news will come as a relief to drivers who were being diverted towards Clydebank to get back round for Dumbarton and the vale of Leven.

During the joint replacement maintenance, traffic was set to be diverted to the eastbound A82 and asked to turn left onto Mountblow Road.

From here, traffic was going to be made to right turn towards Melbourne Avenue where they would then join the A82 westbound.

HGV traffic was to be forced on to the A82 eastbound towards Kilbowie Roundabout and instructed to take the fifth exit to join the A82 westbound.

There has been no information posted as to when the works will be rescheduled.
