An award-winning Clydebank businesswoman says the “great relationship” she has with her customers convinced her it was time to launch a new venture aimed at local tradespeople.

Julie Brown recently scooped the prize for Most Promising New Business at the 2023 West Dunbartonshire Business Awards for her campervan business Staycation Scotland - launched in May 2020 at the height of the Covid pandemic.

Now, Julie has announced a new arm of her family-run business group with the launch of Browns Vehicle Hire, an exciting venture hoping to offer a solution for businesses or individuals who are looking for daily, weekly or monthly hires without the financial burden of a permanent van.

And Julie explained it was talking to locals that made her realise there was a market out there for a van hire brand.

She said: “We have a really great relationship with our local customers and it became clear to me that there was a local requirement for businesses that need a van as part of their business offering but who were scared to take the financial risk.

“We have already got several local businesses who want to use the vans every week, from florists to tradesmen.

“It allows these businesses and individuals to manage their work schedules with flexible usage of the vans, without the huge outgoing of a vehicle that they only use for a certain amount of days each month.”

Julie founded her award-winning after spotting a gap in the market for consumers looking to embrace the staycation trend for holidaying at home.

It has since gone from strength to strength, allowing her to expand the business as she looks to help those in Clydebank and the surrounding areas – in more ways than one.

“We are a local business with local people at the centre of what we do,” Julie added.

“We are already planning a charity Christmas campaign that will be revealed later this month to support homelessness in the local area.”

Businesses can book the vans from Browns for as little as £50 and they will be based in the Staycation HQ in Clydebank. They will service the Dalmuir, Clydebank, Bearsden, Milngavie and Dumbarton areas.

Browns Vehicle Hire is located at Park Road, Dalmuir, Clydebank.
