STAFF at a Clydebank out-of-school care facility have cause for celebration after they were given five stars during a recent inspection.

Radnor Park Out of School Care was subject to an unannounced visit by the Care Inspectorate on August 21.

The daycare, which can provide support for up to 24 children between the ages of five and 13, received a glowing report with the centre graded ‘very good’ in all four evaluation points.

The recent report, published on September 26, states that children felt “safe, confident, and secure” and that staff and youngsters had developed “very positive relationships” and had lots of fun together.

It added: “Children confidently approached staff for chats, advice, and support. One parent said ‘The staff are fantastic with the kids and go above and beyond to cater for the kid’s needs.’

“Staff worked closely with families to maintain a mutual exchange of information about children, this ensured the continuity of care and support between home and the setting.”

The care watchdog highlighted that it found “significant strengths” in how the care is provided and how it supports positive outcomes for the children.

The report goes on to add: “Staff worked extremely well together, supporting each other to complete tasks while not interrupting play, learning, and enjoyment of children.

“Some members of the staff team had recently completed additional qualifications in early learning and childcare.

“They told us this had enabled them to develop their understanding of child development theory and practice.

“Throughout our visit, we observed staff treating children with respect and we could see that children had built very positive relationships with staff.

“Staff and children had lots of fun together.”

The inspector notes that improvements had been made to issues highlighted during previous visits.

It states: “On February 25, 2020, the provider was asked to review and update safer recruitment procedures in line with Safer Recruitment through Better Recruitment and to review current staff files to make sure all information is included.

“This ensures quality of staffing as consistent with health and social care standards which state that: ‘I am confident that people who support and care for me have been appropriately and safely recruited’ (HCS 4.24).

“During the latest visit, our inspector reviewed staff personal files and found recruitment processes reflected safer recruitment guidance.”
