A KIND-HEARTED couple finally decided to tie the knot after four decades together - and then asked their guests to donate to charity as their wedding present.

Dianne Hutcheson and John Whyte finally got hitched after four decades together but found themselves struggling with what to ask their guests to gift them.

They both decided that they didn’t need an array of kettles, toasters or the usual wedding gifts - as they have all the essentials already - so instead came up with an amazing idea.

Dianne's sister Karen is a service user at a day care centre - Antonine Court in Dunkenny Road, Drumchapel - so wedding guests were encouraged to give to the charity.

The service helps people living with disabilities and just so happened to be celebrating its 30th birthday.

And, thanks to the generosity of Dianne and John's wedding guests, the Antonine was handed an amazing £5,500 bumper birthday cheque.

Megan Walker from the Antonine said: "It was a fantastic addition to the birthday celebrations.

"This extremely generous amount will be a huge asset to Antonine Court as we are in the midst of a modernisation and expansion plan, and this donation will be hugely beneficial to all those who attend."
