A MAN hit the front door of his ex-partner's Clydebank home so hard that it came off its hinges.

Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard how Stuart Lawlor caused his former partner to suffer fear when he went to the property on November 16 last year.

The 37-year-old previously pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner as he repeatedly struck the front door of the home in Stewart Drive.

The crime was aggravated by being against a partner or ex.

Lawlor, of no fixed abode, also admitted causing the door to come free from its hinges whilst repeatedly shouting.

Defence solicitor Brian McGuire told the court that sentencing had been deferred for Lawlor to stay out of trouble.

He added: "I have been advised that Mr Lawlor has been of good behaviour. He is still in employment."

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry fined Lawlor £300 and a non-harassment order was imposed for five years to prevent him from contacting or approaching his ex-partner.
