Local MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has been singing the praises of Clydebank’s Awestruck Academy following a visit to the creative arts and media centre.

The community hub based in Clydebank’s Three Queens Square played host to SNP MP Martin for a tour of the premises alongside local councillor Cllr Jim McElhill.

Awestruck Academy was founded in West Dunbartonshire in 2017 as leading learning centre for creative arts, music, media, gaming, and digital technology.

It operates as an art gallery, performance and venue space offering a programme of activities for people of all ages.

Local politicians Martin and Jim met with Awestruck Academy’s director Allan Rutherford to discuss work to improve opportunities for young people in the area.

MP Martin was given a look around the creative hub’s music studio and even tried his hand at the drums.

Martin Docherty-Hughes MP said: “It was a privilege meeting with Allan and the team at Awestruck Academy for a tour of their facilities in Clydebank.

“Their venue and creative arts centre is first class; offering a variety of opportunities in music, art, photography, gaming and digital skills.

“This was a fun and interesting visit alongside Cllr Jim McElhill, to see first-hand the beneficial impact of Awestruck Academy in our community.

“I look forward to continuing to work with them to support the development of our young people and promote opportunities for the creative arts in West Dunbartonshire.

“I’d encourage any budding musicians, artists, gamers and digital creators to check out what Awestruck Academy has to offer.”
