Humza Yousaf launched his bid to become the new leader of the SNP today.
The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care gave a speech and answered questions from the media at Clydebank Town Hall on Monday morning as he looks to replace departing First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
Mr Yousaf announced over the weekend his intention to stand and joined former minister Ash Regan in declaring his interest in the job.
And just as he prepared to speak at the launch at 11am this morning, finance secretary, Kate Forbes announced her decision to be considered as the next First Minister of Scotland.
Party veterans John Swinney and constitution secretary, Angus Robertson had already ruled themselves out of the running for the country's top job, as many believe a generational shift in the SNP takes place in real-time.
Mr Yousaf, the MSP for Glasgow Pollok, has held a number of senior posts in government, including as transport minister, Europe minister and justice secretary.
He first became a Glasgow MSP in 2011.
