THREE Clydebank volunteers have been hailed at the Scottish Parliament for their long-service spanning over 100 years.

Clydebank MSP Marie McNair submitted a motion of recognition to commend Kara Blair, Ann Tasker, and Elspeth Mitchell for their outstanding dedication to Girlguiding and recognised their recent long-service awards.

A special lunch was held in Clydebank where Kara, who has volunteered with Brownies for five years, Ann, who has been in Girlguiding for 40 years, and Elspeth, who has  dedicating an incredible 60 years were celebrated.

Ann and Elspeth are currently Rainbow leaders, but have held a multitude of roles across the years, supporting girls aged four to 18 across Scotland.

Ann said: "It was so lovely to receive, and my workplace has even acknowledged my achievement!”

Elizabeth added: “Guiding is an organisation where there are lots of opportunities available and friendships are formed which last a lifetime. I’m so glad Guiding has been part of my life.”

A full list of Clydebank volunteers were celebrated at the lunch held on January 25.

A spokesperson from Girlguiding said: "Our adult volunteers are crucial to expanding our membership and providing girls with chances to discover, to grow, and to know they can do anything.

"We are hugely grateful for the long service of Kara, Anna, and Elspeth, as well as all our volunteers from Milngavie and Clydebank who have been similarly awarded for their long service."
