A MAN is in hospital after suffering a serious head injury following a crash in Blairdardie.

The Post previously reported that the 42-year-old was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after being hit by a car on the A82, Great Western Road at around 5.30pm on Friday (January 6).

Police confirmed that the man's condition has been described as stable.

The road was closed to traffic for nearly five hours after the crash, reopening at 10.20pm. 

Officers investigating the serious road crash are now appealing for information.

Cops said the incident involved a male pedestrian and a black Nissan Micra car. 

The man was struck by the car next to a bus stop near Keal Avenue. It is believed he may have been on a bus and had just gotten off of it before the incident took place.

Police are urging anyone with any information relating to the crash to come forward including motorists who may have dash-cam footage.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “We believe the injured man may have been on a bus and just alighted when the incident happened.

"We are keen to speak to anyone on the bus as they may have important information that could help with our enquiries.

“We would also like to speak to anyone else who was in the area and may have seen what happened, including road users with dash-cam footage that might help our investigation.”
