A local food bank has received a boost this festive season to help them continue providing for families in need.

The Trussell Trust's Scotstoun location is one of a number of the charity's Scottish centres to benefit from a donation of almost £22,000 by BAE Systems.

The money will help fund emergency food parcels and cover operational costs across Scotland so goods can be safely stored, sorted, and distributed.

Money has also been donated to food banks in the company’s local communities including Glasgow – with its bases in Scotstoun and Govan.

More than £160,000 has been donated by BAE to food banks across the UK this winter.

With many food banks relying on the help of volunteers in the community a number of the company’s employees have been playing their part.

Sarah, who works in BAE Systems’ digital intelligence business, volunteers at her local foodbank.

She said: “We meet people at the foodbank who are in work, between jobs and caring for people.

"Everyone is always so grateful for the food, the generosity, and for what we’re able to provide.

“People can get emotional when they see the food parcel we’ve packed up for them and it’s so rewarding to see the difference we’re able to make.”

The donations are part of BAE Systems’ community investment work, which focuses on providing support in three key areas of local communities, education, and the armed forces.
