BUSINESS chiefs in West Dunbartonshire have described a Christmas lunch that raised hundreds to help local OAPs as "an amazing success".

Damon Scott, chief executive of the Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce, was speaking after the event on December 9, which was at highlighting the benefits of developing links between business and the Armed Forces.

The focus on ChamberFORCE initiative, a partnership programme between Chambers of Commerce in Scotland and their local Navy, Army and RAF units, meant the afternoon was well-attended and Mr Scott praised all who were there.

The Highland and Reserve Forces and Cadets Association (HFRCA) joined online retailer Amazon as the main sponsors of the event.

Mr Scott said: "The Chamber is immensely grateful to our wonderful community to make the event such an amazing success along with our sponsors and partners.

"Amazon and HRFCA as headline sponsors as well as Chivas, Adsmart by Sky and the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel all made an invaluable contribution.

"Thanks must also go to all of the members that donated such generous prizes to the raffle and to the guests that attended and dug deep to ensure we raised as much as possible for the Golden Friendships Club.

“The incredible support for the event is a real measure of the amount of goodwill there is towards the Chamber and our importance and standing at the heart of our business community.

"It also shines a light on the willingness and importance of our network to continue to come together at such a difficult time for business."

The Dalmuir charity received over £1500 from a raffle in the afternoon and featured guest speaker, Charandeep Singh, Deputy Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce.

Mr Scott added: “The Chamber is committed to working hard in the new year to continue our “TogetherForBusiness” campaign to bring our network together and support them through what is going to be a challenging period – particularly coming on the back of the Coronavirus crisis.

“Our programme of events will very much focus on Growth and Resilience along with other opportunities to bring our community together, share important information, build skills and connections.

"The Chamber is now very much established as a first-responder for business and offers important opportunities for businesses to meet, learn, share and support each other.

"More details of the Chamber’s Growth and Resilience Festival in January and February will be confirmed before Christmas."
