THE Clydebank Post is calling on kind locals to support our food and toy appeal to help us show Clydebank Cares this Christmas.

The festive campaign launches today in partnership with sponsors Smyths Toys Clydebank Kilbowie, located at the Kilbowie Retail Park, and support from Clyde Shopping Centre.

We are calling on Bankies to donate non-perishable food items and toys for children in need.

All the items we collect will be given to local charities that support the most vulnerable people in our community.

In turn, we’re asking local charities and food banks to get in touch with us if they would like to receive a share of the items we receive.

The cost-of-living crisis has hit everyone’s pocket, but some people are struggling more than others and we are asking those of you who can, to donate non-perishable food items, or even toiletries, to our Clydebank Cares appeal.

We are also asking Bankies to consider gifting a new toy to a child who otherwise might go without this Christmas.

Andrew Forrester, centre manager at Clyde Shopping Centre, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Clydebank Cares food and toy appeal by providing a collection point for donations.

“It’s a great initiative that I’m sure will be really well supported by our local community, and in turn will go a long way towards helping families over the Christmas period.”

The campaign runs from Wednesday, November 16 to Wednesday, December 14. Donations can be dropped off at the Customer Service Desk in Clyde Shopping Centre between 10am until 5pm Monday - Sunday.

If no staff are on the desk when dropping off, if the customers can contact a member of staff for assistance or call Clyde Shopping Centre at 0141 952 4594.

Alternatively, donations can be made to Smyths Toys Clydebank Kilbowie, Unit 2, Kilbowie Retail Park, Argyll Road.

On Thursday, December 15 the Clydebank Post team will transport all the donations directly to local charities.

Every single item we receive will be given to a local charity that supports people in our community.

We ask that you give what you can and support our Clydebank Cares appeal.

Gillian Murphy, managing editor of the Clydebank Post, said: “Christmas is a wonderful and exciting time of year but it can also be a time of additional stress, particularly for families who are living on the breadline.

“Rising costs across the board are adding an unprecedented strain on people’s purse strings. The cost-of-living crisis has pushed so many families – including many more working families and individuals – into poverty.

“We want to give a helping hand to those in need by launching our food and toy appeal.

“We at the Post are calling on Bankies to support our food and toy appeal to help show the community that Clydebank Cares.”

Charities wishing to benefit from the campaign are asked to contact the Post directly by emailing: gillian.murphy@newsquest.co.uk.
