PLANS for a car wash near a busy road used by Bankies are set to be approved – despite concerns from locals.

The plans for the car park at the Black Rooster Peri Piri site on the A82 in Milton will go before West Dunbartonshire Council’s planning committee next week.

If confirmed, the hand car-wash facility development will also see an office building and a three-metre canopy erected.

A pre-meeting report published by the committee states that access to the site will be from the BP Petrol Station.

It says: “The site takes access from the shared entry to the petrol station and restaurant from Dumbarton Road, through the car park and to the development site.”

Consultations with Transport Scotland, the council’s road service and environmental health service have all been undertaken with the only conditions set being the confirmation that the applicant accommodates for water run-off causing water or ice in the car park and that wastewater is discharged into the appropriate drainage system.

There have been objections from an unnamed member of the public and the Bowling & Milton Community Council.

The concerns raised include potential water run-off onto the A82, queuing traffic tailing back onto the busy main road and worries that it would lead to an increase in vehicles performing illegal U-turns.
