WEST Dunbartonshire has been revealed as one of the few areas in the UK where property sales are growing rather than slowing down.

New analysis by property inspection and operations software platform Property Inspect shows that the number of sales in January this year was 119, a 115.53 per cent increase on the previous month.

Across the UK there are only 17 local authorities where the volume of sales increased or remained the same during this period.

Warrick Swift, commercial director of Property Inspect said: “As we have seen from the way our surveyors use our software, the property market has seen an impressive level of consistent growth over the past two years but it can’t always be this way.

“Given that demand is still higher than supply, the slight shrink in buyers shouldn’t concern anyone looking to sell right now. As we can see from this data, West Dunbartonshire is still growing and prices are still rising, meaning sellers are in a better place than most other areas of the country.”

It comes as Shona Robison MSP, Cabinet Secretary for social justice, housing, and local government said that “there’s always more to do” when it comes to creating affordable housing in West Dunbartonshire.

Speaking to the Post she said: “There’s always more to do. We have delivered around 111,000 homes in Scotland since 2007 but there’s far more to do.

“We need to keep the momentum going because We know people are absolutely crying out for new safe, warm, affordable homes and in the current climate as well with the cost of living crisis having homes that are more affordable to heat and affordable rents is really, really important.”
