A £4.6 million development of rental homes in Linnvale has officially opened as the site welcomed its first new tenants.
The development, on the grounds of the former St Cuthbert’s Church, was opened on June 17 with new residents moving in just three days later.
Local ward councillors, Craig Edward and Sophie Traynor, were invited to perform the opening ceremony of the 24 new homes for social rent that was delivered in partnership with Clydebank Housing Association (CHA).
CHA chief executive Lynette Lees explained it was a positive for the area.
She said: “We are delighted these 24 new properties are now available for our tenants to move into. These homes will help to address the ever-increasing demand for social housing in the area and also assist us in achieving our objective of ‘providing quality, affordable housing that meets the changing needs of our customers.’
“We appreciate the continued support of the Scottish government, CAF Bank and West Dunbartonshire Council and thank our contractors and consultants for delivering these fantastic new modern homes in the heart of the Linnvale community.
“We also extend our thanks to councillors Edward and Traynor for officially opening the development. It was a wonderful celebration and feedback from both the guests and tenants was extremely positive.”
The new homes were delivered by the building arm of the Cruden Group and Gordon Lee, partnering and procurement director of the property developer, praised the high-quality standard of the new flats.
He said: “We are pleased to continue our strong working relationship with Clydebank Housing Association to deliver these high-quality homes with community WiFi, communal gardens, and parking. The many energy-efficient features included in the homes mean they will be warmer and cheaper to run.
“Throughout this build, we have worked closely with the local community and the association to provide a number of employment and training initiatives including apprenticeships, employment opportunities and work placements for people within the Clydebank area, together with supporting local groups.”
