Clydebank’s preparations for the new season have stepped up a pace with the arrival of three new signings.

The Holm Park side confirmed the signings of Larry McMahon, Kyle King and Josh Weir in the club’s first batch of incomings this summer.

McMahon, a defender or midfielder, arrives from Beith, with 18-year-old goalkeeper King joining after spells with St Mirren and Queen of the South.

Striker Weir will officially become a Bankie when his contract with Pollok expires.

Weir scored seven times in 22 appearances across three seasons with the Lok, including against the Bankies earlier this season, and told Clydebank’s social media team that joining the club is something he has always had aspiratons of.

He said: “It’s been quite a while in the pipeline for me personally. It’s a team I’ve wanted to be at for quite a while. It’s always been in my mind. I stay in Renfrew so it’s quite local for me.

“It’s a massive club with a great setup and management and a really well run team. It ticks a lot of boxes for me in what I’m looking for in a football team.

“Gordon Moffat is a great guy and really switched on. He knows his stuff and what he’s talking about.

“I like to play on the last man but I quite like playing out on the sides as well because of my pace.”

The Bankies also confirmed that five members of the under-20 squad have signed first-team contracts.

Max Clarke, Coby O’Brien, Adam Smith, Martin Smith and Connor Hamilton are all set to make the step up after helping the development squad clinch the title last season.

Leaving the club is Ross McPherson, who re-joined Clydebank in 2020 for a second spell after first appearing between 2010 and 2014.

‘Archy’ netted 67 goals across his two stints, including 12 last season, with a social media post from the club wishing him and his family well for the future.

On the pitch, Clydebank - whose players returned to Holm Park for their first pre-season training session on Wednesday, July 15 - have announced seven pre-season friendlies as they gear up for the 2022/23 campaign.

The senior side will take on Clydebank's development squad at Holm Park on June 25 to before the visit of East of Scotland League outfit Vale of Leithen a week later.

Clydebank then travel to Renfrew on July 5 before making the trip to Kilbirnie Ladeside four days later.

Moff’s side host Shotts Bon Accord on July 12 before Nairn County are the last pre-season visitors to Holm Park.

The club's pre-season campaign comes to a close with a journey to Perthshire to face Luncarty on July 23, ahead of the competitive action starting a week later.
