Young Bankies are being offered the chance to meet a famous face next month as Sonic The Hedgehog visits Clydebank.

The much-loved character is set to visit The Entertainer store in Clyde Shopping Centre and fans are being invited along to meet their hero and get a picture with him

The event is completely free of charge and Jedd Flanagan, general manager of the Clyde Shopping Centre store admits Sonic's popularity isn't just confined to the kids.

He said: “We’re excited to be welcoming families to our store to meet the lighting-fast cartoon hero, Sonic The Hedgehog! Sonic has inspired children for more than 30 years, and it’s great to see him being enjoyed by a whole new generation.

“Whether you’re 3 or 33, we can’t wait to see guests’ best superhero poses as they join us for an exciting family day out capturing snaps with Sonic!”

The visit takes place on Saturday, June 4 between 10am and 4pm.

The blue hedgehog, who is famed for his lightning speed, began life as a nineties video game but has recently found favour with a new audience thanks to a critically acclaimed 2020 movie starring Jim Carry as Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik.

And he is currently starring in cinemas in the sequel to that hit with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, with Idris Elba added to the cast as "Knuckles."
