THE time has finally come to announce this year's winner of the Clydebank Post's Perfect Pet competition.

Bankies were invited to submit pictures of their animals to be in with the chance of winning £300.

This year, little Simba came out on top after securing the most votes and owner Lorna Provan said she is "over the moon" with his achievement.

The Dalmuir resident said: "I kept saying to my husband I don't think he's going to win, maybe he will but I don't know.

"Obviously there were lots of other animals that are gorgeous too so I'm absolutely over the moon.

"He's so special because of his nature and his attitude. He's definitely been a great addition to my life."

Simba is currently 15-years-old and is set to celebrate his 16th birthday in September.

Lorna told the Post that she had rescue cats when she was younger and that she rescued Simba last March through a friend.

She said: "He's a rescue cat. My friend works for West Dunbartonshire Council home help and one of her clients couldn't really look after him so my husband and I took him on.

"It turned out that he had an overactive thyroid which is why he kept losing weight and being sick.

"When I saw the competition on the Post's Facebook page I thought aw I'll need to enter him into that."
