A travel-loving Bankie says she is stunned to find her TikTok account showcasing her adventures has smashed over ten thousand followers over the last month.

Gemma Edgar has only been documenting her trips around Scotland for just over 12 months but admits it was her recent trips, including one to a secret beauty sport just two hours from Clydebank, that really saw her account take off.

And, speaking to the Post, Gemma revealed it has all come as a bit of a shock to her.

She said: “I was off work about a month ago and I was going to Inveraray with my friend.

“We went away for the night, but we stopped off in lots of different places and I thought, I’m going to do a voiceover of this trip because I can’t fit everything into the description.

“I was quite nervous about it because you never know what way this is going to go.

“So, I did the voiceover and I think the TikTok got like 16 thousand views, and so many people were commenting on it asking like ‘where is this? where is that?’”

Gemma then posted two videos in two days in the middle of April that saw the number of people engaging with her content and following her really explode.

The first was following a trip with her uncle to the little-known Isle of Ghia, which was viewed over four hundred thousand times.

“It’s only two hours away from Glasgow and not a lot of people know about it,” Gemma continued.

“We never got home until 11 o’clock at night and I remember posting the video and I woke up in the morning and I had genuinely so many comments, so many views and I thought, ‘where is this going?’

“But then I was out again that night, I then went to a spa with my pals. I went to this Taymouth Marina Spa, and I posted that again but I was shattered and I just went to bed and I woke up in the morning and now that Tiktok has 414,000 views.”

Gemma tries to engage with those watching and people who have questions about her trips, explaining in her content the prices of stays and activities to her ever-growing fanbase.

And she explained it was a love of Scotland’s beauty passed down by her parents that meant she caught the travel bug from an early age.

“I’ve always enjoyed going away, going on adventures, I was brought up like that.

“My mum and dad always used to take us away around about Scotland.

“I think I just took that as I got older as well.”

With her account gemsadventures95 currently sitting at 11.6K followers, next up for the Clydebank girl is a trip to Inversnaid Farm in Loch Lomond.

However, Gemma admits there is still no place like home and has her favourite moments rather than a favourite place.

She said: “I love nothing more than watching a sunset and it doesn’t need to be anywhere wild.

“Like I go down to the Titan Crane with my wee sister and we take food down with us and we watch the sunset.

“Just being outside, I love nothing more than being outside.”
