A mental health campaigner is teaming up with her influencer pals to raise funds for Glasgow Children’s Hospital in a charity football match.

Bankie Kelsey Ferguson will star alongside Scottish TikTok giants Captain Morgan, Irnbruman, Sully, John from manfromsomewhere and Stephanie Wightman to get the boots on for the event organised by fellow social media star AJ Greenway.

And speaking exclusively to the Post, Kelsey, whose dad is a former Rangers player Iain Ferguson, admitted her family’s footballing genes may not have passed down to her.

She said: “We had our first training session on Tuesday and because my dad used to play football, so the pressure is on me to be as good.

“But there is no way in hell that I am.

“I didn’t take football boots with me, kicked the ball and my big toe burst my trainer.”

In 2020, the Post reported how Kelsey had started a campaign to highlight the mental health effects of cyberbullying, having been a victim of horrific abuse herself at a young age.

The match will take place at Hamilton’s Fountain of Youth Stadium on August 7 and during a behind-the-scenes visit to a training session by the Post, organiser AJ explained it was for a cause close to his heart.

He said: “My son who’s three years old, they found a tumour behind his eye last year and he’s had many operations and hospital appointments.

“During his visits, I saw all the good work that the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity does for the sick kids.

“And that’s when I came up with the idea for a charity football match,”

AJ revealed he took inspiration from the likes of Soccer Aid when putting together his team line-ups and believes this type of match hasn’t been done before in Scotland.

“It’s exciting. It’s the first of its kind of something of this scale in Scotland. It happens a lot in England,” AJ added.

Ex-Dundee, Dundee United, Hearts and Rangers striker Ferguson urged people to get involved and buy tickets to the game.

He said: “If this can raise some money to help them (Children’s Hospital), then I think everyone should turn up and support that.

“It will be a bit of fun I would imagine and there will be a lot of things going on in the day.”

Both teams will consist of the most famous content creators on the Scottish TikTok scene and comedian Gary Faulds will be the guest commentator.

The strips that both teams will wear will be sponsored by mental health clothing companies Unsubtle Skulls and Stay Fly UK with tickets costing £10. They can be bought at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/scottish-tiktokers-charity-football-match-tickets-292585931397
