Trains through Dalmuir station have been disrupted due to a fault with the signalling system.

Scotrail announced just after 1pm on Thursday that services through the station may be cancelled or delayed due to the problem.

The train operator hoped to have services back up and running as normal by 2:15pm, but updated travellers on Twitter to say there would be issues until at least 3pm.

They said: “A fault with the signalling system at #Dalmuir is causing disruption to journeys through this station. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 25 minutes or revised.

“Disruption is expected until 15:00.”

Routes affected include between Edinburgh and Helensburgh Central, between Larkhall / Motherwell/Cumbernauld and Dalmuir, between Airdrie and Balloch, and also between Glasgow Queen Street and Mallaig

A later update said services from Dalmuir to Glasgow via Yoker are diverted via Singer and running non-stop from Dalmuir to Hyndland, but in that direction only.

Scotrail have been approached for an update.
