CLYDEBANK residents have been warned to remain vigilant following concern at a possible gas leak in the town.

Engineers rushed to Duntocher Road after the alarm was raised by a member of the public on Thursday.

Scottish Gas Networks (SGN) says its engineers carried out a full investigation and that they're safisfied gas supplies in the area are "safe" to use.

Experts will return in the coming days to carry out repairs.

An SGN spokesperson told the Post: "Earlier today, we were called to reports of a smell of gas in Duntocher Road in Clydebank.

"Our engineers carried out a full safety check and will return in the coming days to make repairs.

"We would like to reassure the local community that their gas supply remains safe to use.

"We would like to remind people if they smell gas it should always be reported immediately on the National Gas Emergency Number 0800 111 999."
