AN EAST End man has thanked the ambulance crew who saved his life after he had a “large heart attack”.

Scott Wilson said there was “faultless execution” by the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) staff who attended to him following the incident on Sunday, September 26.

Paramedics arrived within five minutes of Scott raising the alarm at 12:17am, and immediately rushed him away to the specialist Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank.

Now back home recovering, Scott, who volunteers with Lifesavers Scotland, a Lanarkshire based Blood Group, has extended his thanks to the hero team who saved his life.

Scott, who lives in Bridgeton, paid tribute to paramedic Paul Stewart and technician Jacquelyn Donald who are both based out of Glasgow South Station.

The 56-year-old said: “I had a large heart attack that would have killed most people - and the crew knew it.

“I cannot put into words my gratitude for their dedication and faultless execution of getting me diagnosed on my floor.

“Their actions saved my life.”

While on their way to the West Dunbartonshire hospital, which specialises in heart care, one of the crew liaised with Golden Jubilee staff to ensure they were prepped ahead of his arrival.

He added: “In this case, they didn’t just get me there, they held my life in their hands as if it were their own.

“This was as high pressure as it gets for them both and they were calm under pressure, made the decisions and worked as a team to get me there alive.”

Scott said he was recovering well at home now and said he was grateful for the crew handing his “life back to me”.

He added: “All my doctors commented that people normally don’t survive such a big attack.

“The reason I did was the crew, nothing else.”
