Additional support needs pupils at Drumchapel High School have teamed up with a filmmaker to produce a short film inspired by COP26.

Into Film Scotland will collaborate with Chhaproma Studios in Nepal to film a documentary about Connecting the Climate Challenge, a major initiative from Engage Nepal With Science that pairs primary and secondary schools in Nepal and Scotland.

Focusing on their different but complementary experiences of climate change, the pupils will learn from each other’s lived experiences and join forces to tackle the climate crisis and become responsible, global citizens, while building long-lasting bridges between their communities.

Supported by a charity donation from the world-famous Pinewood Studios, the Drumchapel pupils will film their own documentary about the environment and sustainability, inspired by Glasgow hosting COP26.

The film will then be screened at schools across the country as part of the Into Film Festival this month.

Kirsty Gallacher, programme delivery manager at Into Film Scotland, said: "The climate emergency has never been so relevant, especially with COP26 taking place on Glasgow’s doorstep this November.

"Film can be such a powerful tool for conveying information and key messages. Working with partners locally and internationally across this range of exciting projects has enabled us to empower the young people we are working with, to share their stories, inspire others and hopefully impact change, for a brighter future for our younger generation."
