CLYDEBANK FC pulled off a huge Scottish Cup shock on Saturday with a 2-1 win away to Elgin City at Borough Briggs in their second round replay.

Bankies fans made the 200-mile journey north in large numbers on supporters' buses and under their own steam to give their team noisy backing against their League Two hosts following Monday night's 1-1 draw in the first match at Holm Park.

And after an early let-off when Conor O'Keefe's shot for Elgin was blocked on the line by Jamie Darroch, Bankies took the lead on 14 minutes when Liam McGonigle latched on to Lee Gallacher's pass and coolly finished past keeper Thomas McHale.

Skipper Nicky Little - scorer of the penalty that had levelled the first match five days earlier - doubled Bankies' advantage midway through the second half, sparking wild celebrations among the travelling support.

Brian Cameron pulled one back for Elgin, but Clydebank survived a nerve-racking final 12 minutes to set up a third round tie against Clyde at Holm Park on November 27.
