TWO women were allegedly hit with a car in Clydebank in the early hours of this morning.

One of the pedestrians, aged 22, sustained serious injuries following the crash on Great Western Road, Drumry. 

The other woman, aged 26, suffered minor injuries. They were both taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after emergency services were called at around 1.20am. 

Police say a 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, but an investigation remains ongoing. 

The road was closed as enquiries were carried out but it has since reopened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a collision involving a car and two pedestrians on Great Western Road in Glasgow around 1.20am on Sunday, October 3.

“The incident happened near a service station approximately 300m east of the roundabout junction with Drumry Road.

“A 22-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and a 26-year-old woman suffered a minor injury. Both were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

“A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with information relating to the crash can call 101, quoting incident 0291 of October 3."
