A Yoker football team will have a special match in honour of a former player who passed away last week.

Lovat Arms AFC will play a game to remember youth worker Kieran Spence, 24, who was found dead at home on September 18.

The team paid tribute to Kieran at the weekend and shared a link to raise money for his family at this difficult time.

Now they plan for a game on Saturday at John Browns Park in Whitecrook from 2pm.

In a post on Facebook, they said: "The teams will be a mix of Lovat players and Kieran’s friends.

"We encourage anyone who knew him to pop down and watch we’ll also be holding a minute silence with his parents and asking his mum to present the winning team with the KS7 cup which we’ll play for yearly from now on."

After the news of Kieran's death, the team said he had played with them since the club started.

They said: "Kieran Spence was a player any dressing room would want! He not only terrorised the opposition with his speed and skill but his razor sharp patter!"
