TRAINS in the Clydebank area are being disrupted once again due to severe heavy rain.

ScotRail has announced the cancellation of several services heading to or from Dalmuir amid reports of further flooding.

On social media ScotRail tweeted: "We have had reports of flooding in the Dalmuir area. For safety reasons, we are carrying out an inspection and will report back as soon as we have more information."

The stretch of line affected is between Dalmuir and Clydebank stations - the same part of railway that had to be closed at the weekend after torrential rain left tunnels under several feet of water.

The line reopened later on Sunday evening, though Network Rail also put an emergency 40mph speed restriction in place between Bowling and Westerton due to the severe weather.

The line between Dalmuir and Hyndland via Yoker has been closed. Services between Dalmuir and Lanarkshire are not running west of Garscadden, and Helensburgh-Edinburgh trains are being diverted via Singer.

Updating passengers on Monday evening's disruption via Twitter, a Network Rail spokesperson said pumps were in place to try and reduce water levels but added: "Today's rain is falling on already saturated ground. This means water levels can rise very fast in heavy rain.

"Staff remain onsite to monitor the situation."
