A MAN who kicked at a Mountblow door and demanded entry to a property has been banned from a building for two years.

Kieran McGinley, of West Court, Littleholm Place, had pleaded guilty to repeatedly striking a door, shouting, swearing, acting in an aggressive manner and uttering threats in neighbouring Park Court.

The 30-year-old appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court for sentencing on July 27, when fiscal depute Abigail McKenna said that at around 8.30pm on February 7, 2020, three women were watching TV in a property. McGinley was reportedly friends with the ex of one of the women.

They saw McGinley on CCTV as he began hammering and banging to get in. Ms McKenna said the three women were afraid and stayed quiet, hoping he would assume nobody was in.

But McGinley lifted the letter box shouting: “I know you’re in there. If you don’t open the door, I’m going to make your life hell.”

He then walked away from the door before returning, kicking it and shouting: “I’m going to kick your door in.”

McGinley left and police were called to the scene.

Sheriff John Hamilton demanded an explanation from McGinley’s solicitor. He asked him: “Why was he at that door doing that? What’s the history?”

The case had to recall for defence solicitor Stephen McGuire to consult his client.

Mr McGuire later said his client had some connection to the property and believed there was something he owned inside. He added it did not justify McGinley’s actions and he had no intention of going back.

Sheriff Hamilton imposed a community payback order under which McGinley will be supervised by social work for 12 months.

He was also ordered to do 180 hours of unpaid work by July of next year.

The sheriff also imposed a non-harassment order banning McGinley from having any contact with a woman who was living at the property, and barring him from entering Park Court for the next two years.
