PLANS to build more than 30 new flats on a vacant site in Dalmuir have been lodged with council bosses.
Applicant Michael Pater Design is seeking permission for 32 flats spread across three three-storey blocks, along with car parking, vehicle access and a communal open space, for the site on the south side of Auld Street.
A supporting statement lodged with the application says that “a contemporary minimalist design using high quality facing brick with relief elements and highlighted by glazed curtain wall panels” is proposed, with private balconies to all the flats and vehicle access via both ends of Auld Street.

The site is earmarked for housing in the area’s local development plan – which indicates that the site would be suitable for up to 10 homes.
Earlier this year an attempt to secure permission to put 115 storage containers on the site – which, 20 years ago, was home to a waste transfer station – was dealt a final blow after the Scottish Government turned down an appeal against West Dunbartonshire Council’s refusal of the application.
The Storage Zone’s plans for the site were rejected by WDC’s planning committee last June, and the appeal against refusal was dismissed in January.
