A CLYDEBANK teenager who headbutted his ex will have to return to court to establish what actually happened.

The 16-year-old boy, who can’t be named because he is under the age of 18, previously pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman and headbutting her to the face, knocking her to the ground to her injury on April 23, 2021, near Glasgow Road, Old Kilpatrick.

It was aggravated by being against his ex-partner.

Dumbarton Sheriff Court on July 2 heard that the teenager and his ex had been in a relationship for a year and were with friends. The boy approached his ex and engaged in a conversation. But then his demeanour changed and he became aggressive.

He butted her to the face and knocked her to the ground, bursting her lip.

When asked why he did it, the teen said: “She deserved it.”

The court heard the boy told social workers that the victim approached him and that he tried to walk away. He alleged she slapped him and then he headbutted her.

There was no suggestion when he pleaded guilty that he had been provoked.

There will be a proof in mitigation hearing on July 28.
