A CLYDEBANK dad has complained about a lack of support and mixed messages from Scottish Water after he went to wash his children but was met with brown water from the bath taps instead.

Father of two Liam Kildea discovered the dirty water at his Linnvale home last week - but said he was told by the utility company that a “lack of money” from government meant the firm couldn’t flush out the pipes to solve the problem.

But after the Post took up Liam’s case, the company acted to fix the issue.

After phoning Scottish Water to complain, Liam said he felt “unsupported” when looking for a resolution from the water company.

He told the Post: “I’ve reached out to Scottish Water to see why this is happening and they said that any time there’s work carried out nearby that this could be the problem.

“I’ve been a resident in Linnvale for five years now and this has happened on a good few occasions. It’s ruined washings of mine.

“Me and my partner have a five-year-old and a four-week old-baby, and I was going to run the bath for my five-year-old and this is what I was produced with.

“Their answer was ‘we don’t get enough money from the government to flush the pipes’.

“They should stop advertising fresh drinking tap water when they don’t.”

After Liam contacted the Post to raise his concerns, and we sought a response from Scottish Water, the company said that they would send an engineer to the family’s home to sort the issue.

“They said that they could send out an engineer to get it tested,” Liam said.

“But I said “what good is that when my water isn’t the colour it was on Thursday night?”.

“I wasn’t offered testing on Thursday night.

“The telephone operator said that there’s no way they could flush all the systems in Scotland because the Scottish Government don’t supply them with enough money.

“But today they’ve said they could try flushing the mains.”

A Scottish Water spokesperson told the Post: “We were made aware of this issue and appropriate advice was given to the customer.

“The matter has been resolved and his water is running clear.

“He has been advised to contact us if he has any further issues or concerns.”
