PUPILS at two Clydebank schools have been hailed for their sporting achievements.

Amy Sharkey from Clydebank High School and Daniel Allan and Holly Murray from Our Lady of Loretto Primary School have been named as West Dunbartonshire’s Young Sports Stars of the Month for June.

Amy is a member of the 2008 Rangers football squad and is also part of the regional Scotland squad for her age group.

She was nominated by Clydebank High School for her excellent commitment to her sport which resulted in her being top goal scorer for her team.

Throughout lockdown, Amy’s engagement in the PE department Strava fitness challenges was fantastic and she is considered an inspiration and role model for her fellow pupils.

Daniel trained for and completed the Virtual Kiltwalk in 2021 raising money for local charity Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels in the process. The theme of this years Kiltwalk was “choose your challenge” so he decided to walk The Humphrey Hill in Old Kilpatrick, aiming to achieve six miles.

On the day of the Kiltwalk he completed a three hour walk and beat his target, walking just under seven miles.

So far Daniel has raised £450 which will be topped up by an additional 50 per cent from The Hunter Foundation.

Holly participates enthusiastically in a variety of sports, including dancing, gymnastics and swimming.

She has worked hard during lockdown, engaging in online gymnastics classes and taking part in PE with online Joe Wicks lessons.

Holly is looking forward to getting back out cycling and running again and walking up The Humphrey Hill with her dad now that lockdown restrictions have eased and the sun has returned.
