A MAN was rushed to hospital with "very serious" burn injuries after an incident in Clydebank at the weekend.

Police and emergency services were called to Dunswin Court, Dalmuir, around 7.20pm on Friday.

The 26-year-old was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and he remains in hospital.

A spokeswoman for the health board described his condition as "very serious".

It is understood he suffered burn injuries, but the cause is still being investigated. Despite suggestions, it is understand acid was not used.

The man has been named in reports as Michael McElhinney.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland told the Post: “Enquires are ongoing following the report of a 26-year-old man found injured at a property in Dunswin Court in Clydebank around 7.20pm on Friday, June 4.

“The man suffered serious injuries and has been receiving treatment at Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he remains."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 3327 of June 4.

Police previously reported the victim had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. They have since corrected their statement.
