NICOLA Sturgeon has given an update on further lockdown easing in West Dunbartonshire.

The First Minister laid out her plans for parts of the country to transition into Level 1 from Monday, June 7 during a live briefing.

All of the country was set to move through the "levels system" together, however Glasgow and Moray were held back in Level 3 as the rest of the country moved into Level 2 over fears of localised outbreaks.

Moray has since moved back into Level 2 while Glasgow stayed in Level 3.

And Ms Sturgeon has confirmed that West Dunbartonshire will move into Level 1 this Saturday, June 5.

Level 1 will see cafes, pubs and restaurants open as normal, as well as shops and stores. Eight people from three households can meet in cafes and pubs, and 12 people from 12 different households can meet outdoors. Up to 100 people can attend weddings and funerals.

Other areas around the central belt will stay in Level 2 in an effort to curb transmission rates.

It was also confirmed that were zero deaths from those who tested positive for Covid-19 in the past day.

A total of 478 cases of coronavirus were registered after tests reported results, with the positivity rate at 3.1 per cent.

A total of 106 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19.

Of those 10 people were in intensive care.
