A CLYDEBANK man who deliberately disobeyed a court’s orders to have no contact with his former partner has been spared a prison sentence.

Kilbowie Road resident John Abraham had been handed a three-year non-harassment order at Dumbarton Sheriff Court in February 2020.

But the same court heard last week that the 59-year-old was found to have violated the order when he was discovered at home with his ex in January.

Additionally, Abraham committed the offence while he was still the subject of a bail order from the same court.

On Friday, Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said he was treating Abraham leniently by not sending him to prison.

The sheriff told him: “This is a learning point for you.”

Abraham received a community payback order instead of prison, with two years of supervision by the social work department.

He was also told that he must attend alcohol counselling or treatment whenever his supervising social worker requires him to do so over the same period.

In addition, Abraham was also handed a restriction of liberty order requiring him to remain at his home address between 7pm and 7am every night until early September.
