A HELENSBURGH woman will face no further action over an incident at a Chinese takeaway in the town almost two years ago.

Lauren Gilmore was charged with culpably and recklessly throwing a glass bottle, which smashed and caused injury to another female at the Oriental Express in West Clyde Street in July 2019.

The 20-year-old appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last Friday for sentencing, where her defence solicitor Stephen McGuire appealed for leniency as his client is hoping to enrol in higher education next term.

Mr McGuire told the hearing: “Her circumstances have changed unrecognisably since this incident.

“Then she was 18, living at home; now she is a mother and working at a call centre.

“She wants to go to college and get childcare qualifications.”

Ms Gilmore, listed in court papers as living in Sinclair Street, was given an absolute discharge.

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told her: “That was a very serious mistake on your part but I am satisfied it is not necessarily a mistake that has to blight the rest of your life.

“You will have no record, and no conviction.”
