A PUBLIC consultation on proposed environmental and path improvements at a Faifley green space has begun.

West Dunbartonshire Council and the Green Action Trust are working together to develop plans and secure funding for a range of access and environmental improvements at Faifley Knowes.

Over the past few years, the path network on the much-loved site has deteriorated, and a significant amount of work and money is now needed to bring about improvements.

Proposed improvements to the site include work done on paths, drainage and vegetation, removing two flights of steps currently situated there to improve access, replacing or fixing the area’s bridges, signage and entrance improvements, planting new area of woodlands, removing dead or damaged trees and invasive plants, as well as removing rubbish and fly-tipping.

It has been estimated that around £175,000 is needed to carry out the improvements needed in the area.

And the public’s views are being sought about creating a new community woodland in the area of unused land beside Douglas Muir Road.

Plans for both sites and a questionnaire are available online at surveymonkey.co.uk/r/FaifleyKnowes.
