REOPENING dates have been confirmed for two lochside hotels which entered administration last year and faced the threat of permanent closure.
Around 50 jobs were lost when the Claymore and Tarbet hotels in Arrochar shut in May 2020 following the collapse of owners Specialist Leisure Group.
However, under an agreement with Bespoke Hotels the former Shearings properties are set to return - with the Tarbet Hotel due to reopen on Monday, May 17 and the Claymore on June 1.
Approximately 80 jobs will be created across both local sites, which are now part of a newly formed group of ex Shearings Hotels called the Coast & Country Hotel Collection, incorporating more than 30 destinations throughout the UK.
Paul FitzGerald, portfolio managing director of Bespoke Hotels, said: “Given the enormous challenges of the last few months, we’re delighted to bring these properties back to market.
"Integral parts of Arrochar, and the wider area’s hotel offering, we know their initial closure was felt keenly amongst the local community.

"Now though, with reopening plans in place, we’re able to offer not just jobs and wider tourism opportunities, but hospitality services that people can engage with as restrictions lift.
“With the country having been unable to enjoy the delights of hospitality for so long, everyone is eager to enjoy themselves post lockdown, and as people are starting to realise these properties are reopening we’re already seeing keen interest to book – something that bodes really well for their future success.”
Interested applicants are encouraged to enquire about the positions available at the Tarbet and Claymore sites, with the hotels’ previous general managers reprising their roles and former staff also being re-employed.
