A Clydebank sex predator who raped two sleeping women has been jailed for six years.

Andrew Kane, 21, pounced on the victim at his home in the town on October 3 last year.

The 20 year-old awoke to find her clothes pulled down and Kane having sex with her.

After the woman protested she had been sleeping, the rapist stated: "That is not the first time someone has told me that."

The High Court in Glasgow heard last month how Kane had previously struck on February 23, 2020.

He was at a house in the city's Drumchapel when he later lay beside this first victim.

Both then appeared to be sleeping.

But, similar to the later victim, the 21-year-old woman woke up and found her trousers at her ankles.

Kane was confronted about what happened, but he soon left his crying victim.

He was later charged and bailed by a sheriff.

Kane was sentenced having earlier pleaded guilty to two rape charges. Both victims were at the High Court in Glasgow to see their attacker jailed.

Lady Stacey told Kane: "What you did has had a serious and lasting effect on the two women involved and you need to realise that.

"The social worker (in a pre sentencing report) is concerned that you may remain a danger to young women even after a period of custody."

The judge said, as a result, Kane would be supervised for a further 18 months on his release.

Sean Templeton, defending, said: "I understand both women are in court and I wish to repeat his apologies on his behalf.

"I can only impress on the two young women he regrets his behaviour."

Kane was put on the sex offenders list.
