TWO people were taken to hospital after being attacked near the Forth and Clyde Canal in Blairdardie at the weekend.

The incident happened around 5.10pm on Saturday, 17 April, 2021, at a grassy area on Blairdardie Road, near the canal path.

A 26-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man were treated in hospital for serious head and back injuries.

Detective Constable James McLelland said: “There were groups of youths around at the time of this serious assault and I am appealing to anyone who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.

“In particular we are looking to speak to people seen moving off towards the canal path and towards Garscadden Road.
