A YOUNG Knightswood pupil has won a national poster competition.
Tamzyn Allan, 12, triumphed in the secondary school category of the National Sense of Sectarianism competition.

The resource which is taught to all secondary schools in north-west Glasgow, tackles prejudice and discrimination by breaking down barriers through educational resources.

The St Thomas Aquinas RC School pupil was encouraged to enter the competition through her English department.

Her proud mum Lynsey said that her personal positive message is a way to stamp out sectarianism which is still very much a thing in our life today.

She told the Post: “We are so proud of what she has done. It is such a massive achievement and we are so pleased she is the winner of her category.

“She was encouraged by her English department to enter and we are all proud. She was selected as one of five finalists and now she has done this. She completely deserves this.

“She spent ages creating this poster and she can use it as a keepsake. This is such as important issue to her and being able to spread the message across the community is more than we could ever ask for.

“She is very grateful for everyone who voted for her in the competition.”
Her poster is being used this week as part of the Sense Over Sectarianism national week of action, being held online and in schools until Friday.
