TESTING facilities for people in Clydebank who are not showing symptoms of Covid-19 will go live on Tuesday in a bid to break the chain of transmission of the disease.

Two asymptomatic test centres being opened by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in West Dunbartonshire – one in Clydebank and one in Dumbarton – and you don’t need an appointment to go along and take a test.

Results will be provided within 30 minutes.

The two facilities are located at Clydebank East Community Centre in Fleming Avenue in Whitecrook, and at the Leven Valley Enterprise Centre in Castlehill Road, Dumbarton.

Both are open from 11am until 7pm, Monday to Saturday.

Advice is available on the support you can get while self-isolating – as you must do if your test returns a positive result.

A spokesperson for West Dunbartonshire Council said: “People who have the virus may not show symptoms, or they can be so mild or unusual that they are not recognised as Covid-19.

“This means that without knowing it they could be spreading the virus to their loved ones, work colleagues and the wider community.

“These test sites are for members of the public who are NOT experiencing symptoms of Covid-19.

“If you feel you may have symptoms (such as loss of taste and smell, a high temperature or new and continuous cough) you should arrange a test via your GP or NHS24.

“We would encourage everyone living or working in the Clydebank and Dumbarton area to go along and have a rapid test. You will get a result in 30 minutes or less.

“The centres will also advise of support available if you have a positive test so that you can isolate and not spread the infection.”
