A MAN is due to stand trial in the new year over accusations that he broke into a flat in North Drumry and assaulted the householder before robbing him.
Jason Laird, 26, is alleged to have broken into the Cleddans View property before repeatedly hitting the householder on the body with a shovel or similar object.
Mr Laird is also accused of demanding various unknown items from the man living in the flat, and of stealing a quantity of alcohol from him.
Mr Laird appeared at a hearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court via a video link from Low Moss prison in Bishopbriggs.
His lawyer, Gordon Ritchie, said Mr Laird denied the charge.
Both Mr Ritchie and procurator fiscal depute Meghan Glancey said they were ready for the case to continue to a trial.
Sheriff William Gallacher set a trial date of February 24. Mr Laird was remanded in custody.
